Thinning & Pruning

Thinning is the selective removal of live branches to reduce the crown density. It is a common method of pruning on mature trees. Thinning allows wind to pass through or into crown, which can improve durability in a storm or sunlight penetration to the ground. It also reduces stress on selected limbs from gravity, wind, ice, or snow on branches.
